Camelot was designed by Angleman & Davies and built
by American Marine in Hong Kong in 1961. Camelot is modeled after the Mayflower
and is called a Mayflower 41' Ketch. She is one of ten built.
Camelot was crafted from Burmese Teak and bronze. Her total weight is about 22 tons. She has an 85 hp Perkins engine. She is gaff rigged with over a 1000' of cloth in her seven sails. She sleeps six and her broad decks comfortably accommodate gatherings of 12. For some more detailed information, take a look at the specs page. Camelot arrived in St. Augustine Florida in early 1988 and anchored in front of the Castillo de San Marcos. Her owner of four years, David Robinson of Falls Church Virginia, joined with St. Augustine residents, Matt & Gail Taylor, to form Camelot Charters, Incorporated. The Taylors now own Camelot and use it in conjunction with the MG Taylor Corporation and other enterprises. It is currently based out of FtMyers, Florida, and is sailed and maintained by Captain Butch Rice and First Mate Pam Rice. On the 16th of April the Camelot will be departing on her summer tour to Boston and will host many clients and colleagues along the way. |
