Top Mast
Problem: The height of Camelot's top mast restricted navigation in several waterways of the coastal US.
Solution: Give the top mast the ability to be lowered if required.
Head (Bathroom)
Problem: Poor light and ventilation
Solution: Install opening port
in head under outside step to act as awning so that it can be left open
in light rain, This also lets in enough light to solve the light problem.
Problem: Space not utilized to its full potential.
Solution: Cabinets were installed to increase storage and organize space, built in waste bin was also done to optimize space and eliminate the need to secure a waste basket from flying through the cabin in rough weather.
Rigging
Problem: Aft chainplates are a little undersize for a comfortable safety margin, some have been bent, fatiguing the bronze
Solution: Replace with new, larger plates
Maintanance: Inspect chainplate bolts, found serious deterioration
Action taken: Replaced with new bolts
Problem: Dead-eye straps unsafe, poorly designed leaving the rig with a very vulnerable link, one that could easily fail
Solution: Have new straps designed and custom made and then of course use them.
